“The Genesis G70 is about the same size as the C-Class, but the rear-drive sedan looks luxurious and delivers better driving performance than the BMW 3,” said Hwang Chung-yul, senior vice president at the Genesis Project Management Center, at a media preview held in Seoul on Sept. 1.
The car features a very sporty and high-end design with the overall shape highlighted by a hexagon mesh grill, long hood, short front overhang and elegant roofline that some say is similar to that of Kia’s Stinger.
The new G70 is available in 10 exterior colors including blazing red, grace full grey. Luxury interior features include high-end materials, exquisite metal dials, quilted leather door trims and Nappa leather car seats. It is armed with upgraded active safety features, including highway driving assist and nine airbags. It also supports server-based speech recognition technology using Kakao’s voice-enabled AI platform for navigation.
The price of the standard 2.0-liter turbo gasoline model is ranged from 37.5 million won ($33,000) to 40.45 million won, while diesel 2.2-liter is priced at 40.8 million won to 43.75 million won. The top-of-the-line 3.3-liter turbo is set from 44.9 million won to 52.3 million won. Model details and prices will be released on Sept. 15, the official launching date.
The 3.3-liter gasoline version named “G70 Sports” sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.
