Samsung Electronics’ new Galaxy Note 8 will be set at below the level of 1 million won ($886), according to the company’s head.

After the Samsung Galaxy Unpack 2017 held in Park Avenue Armory in New York on Wednesday, Ko Dong-jin, president of Samsung Electronics Wireless Business Department, told reporters “the starting price in excess of 1 million won will be psychologically burdensome to consumers and we will try to make sure it is below the mark.”

Pre-orders for the latest Galaxy device will start on August 24 in the U.S. and September 7 in Korea.

Ko predicted the Galaxy Note 8 will exceed the Galaxy Note 5 in total sales that reached 11 million units from its release to December.

Samsung also released a blue print for its digital voice assistant Bixby, saying external developers will be able to participate in the development of Bixby 2.0. “For Bixby 1.0, the time was not enough for us to support external developers,” Ko said.

The Bixby 2.0 version is expected to be released during Samsung Development Conference due in October.

Touching on new product development with Harman acquired by Samsung in November, Ko said “Harman’s acquisition was a good buy. We will undoubtedly develop a smart speaker (like Amazon’s Echo) although it is not for this year.”
