Samsung Electronics Co. released its new 88-inch quantum-dot-based light emitting diode (QLED) TV, the Q9 in Korea and North America in a bid to take the lead in the burgeoning premium large-screen TV market.

The South Korean tech giant launched the Q9 QLED TV in Southeast Asia earlier this year and plans to release the new model in Europe later this month.

It has rolled out 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch QLED TVs so far, and the introduction of the largest 88-inch completes its high-end TV lineup.

“We are aiming to expand our footprint in the ultra-premium TV market with our ultra-large QLED TV models that embody the perfect combination of technology and art,” said Chu Jong-suk, senior vice president of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

The Q9 TV offers excellent picture quality and performance in sleek design to meet consumers’ lifestyle needs, said the company. The premium TV model scored top on electronics review by German consumer magazine Video Magazin.

The premium TV comes with 1.88-milimeter-thin, transparent optical cable, known as the Invisible Connection that allows the TV set hide messy cables connected to peripheral devices as well as One Remote Control, which enabling users to control the TV’s connected devices through a single remote.

The Q9 QLED TV is available at 33,000 million won ($29,373) in Korea.
