Korean company builds world’s largest dome roof in Saudi Arabia

The recently completed roof - 120 meters in diameter - is one of the 16 megasized aluminum dome roofs ordered last year by Saudi’s National Water Company for fresh water storage tanks under construction in the country’s capital of Riyadh.
The 16 dome roofs are due for completion by the end of the year, said chief executive Tak Koo-hyun at his headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
Upon completing the construction of the 16 fresh water tanks in December, the Saudi government plans to register the site in the Guiness World Records as the world’s biggest desalinated water storage plant, a move that will allow Worldbridge’s dome roof in the site to also become the world’s largest dome cover.
Established in 1991, Worldbridge is Korea’s only manufacturer of ultra-large dome roofs. Dome roofs cover the top of oil and water storage tanks to prevent evaporation and are also used in wastewater treatment plants to reduce energy evaporation and block sewer stench.
Despite being a latecomer, Worldbridge is the world’s third largest player in the industry. It has supplied over 1,500 dome roofs to 35 countries across Europe, Africa, Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The company is providing products to various plant sites by partnering with energy companies from home and abroad, including Samsung, SK, GS, Shell, Inpex and Petron, said Tak.
