Korea Aerospace Industries Co. (KAI) said Sunday it won a $260 million deal to provide an additional fleet of eight T-50 supersonic trainer jets to Thailand.

The Royal Thai Air Force earlier purchased four units in the trainer jet in 2015.

Under the agreement, KAI will deliver two units of the T-50TH, a specialized model for Thailand, in November 2019 and the remainder by May 2020. The export contract encompasses the supply of ground support equipment and maintenance parts.

“T-50TH is a very efficient aircraft,” Air Chief Marshal Chaiyapruk Didyasarin, who heads the Thai Acquisition Committee, said during a signing ceremony.

With the latest deal, KAI’s combined overseas sales of T-50 came to 64 units at $2.93 billion, with clients including Indonesia (16 units), Iraq (24 units) and the Philippines (12 units).

KAI said the latest deal will also give a boost to the company`s plan to sell the jet to more countries, including Botswana, Argentina and the United States this year.
