Samsung SDS’s Q2 OP up 10.3% on quarter and 26% on year

Samsung SDS Co., a logistics and IT solutions unit of South Korea’s largest conglomerate Samsung Group, reported double-digit growths in operating income of 185.8 billion won ($165.8 million) and sales of 2.37 trillion won in the second quarter ended June.

According to its disclosure statement, the company’s operating profit gained 10.3 percent against the last three-month period and 26.4 percent from a year-ago. Sales were up 15.7 percent on quarter and 10.4 percent on year.

Earnings of the IT service division jumped 26.2 percent on year to 160 billion won, while sales rose 7.9 percent on year to 1.39 trillion won during the same period thanks to expansion in NexshopTM and NexplantTM.

Thanks to its improving business in Europe, logistics business process outsourcing (BPO) division raised revenue of 1.07 trillion won, up 14.8 percent on quarter and 27.0 percent on year.

As of 2:45 p.m. Friday, shares of Samsung SDS were up 0.5 percent at 189,500 won.
