South Korea’s tech giant Samsung Electronics Co.’ Notebook 9 Pen series, its latest convertible notebook sporting its signature built-in S Pen, finally hit the Korean market about a month after they were first unveiled in late May.

According to the company, Samsung Notebook 9 Pen, which was introduced as the Notebook 9 Pro overseas, is equipped with a touch screen display that allows consumers to use the S Pen stylus that comes with the notebook. This convertible notebook’s screen can rotate 360 degrees, allowing the laptop display to be used as a tablet.

All eyes are now on how well Samsung Electronics’ latest hybrid notebook will compete against Microsoft’s latest Window 10 Surface Pro models that also comes with an upgraded stylus in the local convertible notebook market.

The iconic S Pen with a 0.7 millimeter tip features 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, enabling users to hold and write or draw with it on screen as if on paper. The S Pen is “embedded” in a notebook and needs no charging, different from its rivals’ styluses, according to the company.

The latest Samsung Notebook 9 Pen is based on Windows 10 operating system and runs on up-to-date 7th Generation Intel Core processor. It comes with a 1920x1080 full high-definition real-view display and 8 gigabyte (GB) or 16GB double data rate fourth-generation (DDR4) memory. It is also loaded with 256GB solid-state drive (SSD) storage device.

The Samsung Notebook 9 Pen is offered in two models - each with a 13.3-inch screen that is 15.9 millimeters thick and weighs 1.32 kilograms and 15-inch screen that is 16.9 millimeters thick and weighs 1.72 kilograms. The highest-grade of the 13.3-inch model, NT940X3M-K58, is priced at 1.89 million won ($1,646.2) while that of the 15-inch model NT940X5M-X78 at 2.34 million won.
