South Korean electronics behemoth Samsung Electronics Co.’s quest to establish a solid footing in the premium built-in home appliance market in the United States continues, with its new Chef Collection built-in lineup unveiled at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC), a leading homebuilding tradeshow in San Diego, the United States, on Wednesday (local time).

The Chef Collection features 10 luxury kitchen appliances including a four-door French door refrigerator with a compartment that can easily turn from a fridge to a freezer; a wall oven with a steamer function that can be split into two to create independent oven spaces allowing more efficient cooking; a range with a high gas flame cooktop; and the WaterWall dishwasher that delivers streaming wall of water for cleaning.

Samsung Electronics said it has worked together with the world’s renowned chefs to develop the upmarket kitchen appliances, reflecting what improvements consumers want to see in built-in appliances.

The introduction of the Chef Collection series is a separate endeavor made by Samsung Electronics to make an impression in the U.S. built-in appliance market from the Modernist Collection developed and launched earlier this year in cooperation with Dacor, the leading upmarket built-in home appliance brand in the U.S. that the Korean tech giant took over last year in hopes to leverage the U.S. company’s expertise to jump-start its premium home appliance business in the U.S.

This time, Samsung Electronics has worked with Italy’s high-end furniture brand Dada to organize the Chef Collection showroom at the PCBC as part of efforts to highlight innovative technology and premium quality of its new premium built-in appliances.

All of the Chef Collection products are loaded with so-called “smart” functions that allow consumers to remotely control appliances using their smartphones and monitor operation conditions in real time. They can also check what they have inside their refrigerators when they are out.
