LG Elec’s smartphone accessories gain popularity

According to electronics industry sources on Tuesday, LG Electronics sold 50,000 units in portable Bluetooth Rolly Keyboard 2, the second version of its signature foldable keyboard, since its release in October 2015. The full-size keyboard weighing just 161 grams is foldable by segments to turn into a wand-like plastic that can fit into a purse or pocket. Despite its pricey tab of 129,000 won ($113), Rolly Keyboard 2 sold 1.5 times more than its predecessor.
“We’ve upgraded the new version to a five-row segment as the same as typical keyboard upon consumer complaints about the first four-row design. Ours have tiny arms fold out to support the smartphone and switches on and off just by folding,” said a LG Electronics official.
Its Bluetooth-enabled Beethle Mouse for smartphones has sold more than 20,000 units since it was released last year.
Mobile accessories are in high demand in line with the advances in the performance in mobile devices and connectivity, allowing smartphones to replace laptops.
Their demand will likely pick up as the U.S. administration is mulling to expand the ban on laptops in flights from the Middle East and Africa to other regions as a part of countermeasures for terrorism dangers.
