South Korean President Moon Jae-in has asked the business community to form a business delegation to accompany him in his first state visit and summit with the United States at the end of this month.

According to multiple sources from business and political circles on Thursday, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) received an order from the presidential office to arrange a business delegation and events during his visit to Washington.

KCCI insiders however said it is not easy to arrange a delegation and meeting with U.S. enterprises over such short notice as the visit is timed with the Fourth of July weekend. Moon’s first visit also would have more political design as the two summits have a heavy agenda related to North Korea nuclear and missile threat and dispute over the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) establishment.

“It is true we are discussing forming delegation with the KCCI, but nothing is decided as we must set the details for the president’s trip and summit talks first,” an official at the Blue House said.
