LG Group Vice Chairman Koo Bon-joon
LG Group Vice Chairman Koo Bon-joon, the younger brother of LG Group Chairman Koo Bon-moo, for the first time will preside over a biannual senior executive meeting next week - a move signifying a transition at the helm of the country’s fourth largest conglomerate.
The conglomerate holds a strategic meeting twice a year - June and November - for chief executives to discuss mid- and long-term business plans. The elder Koo so far has chaired the meetings.
The 66-year-old vice chair so far had kept low profile to assist his elder, 72-year-old brother at LG whose family has been rare in the Korean chaebol community for scandal- and feud-less power succession.
The younger Koo is likely to take more proactive role in management affairs after presiding over the senior executive meeting while the chairman decides on key business plans and appointments, an inside source said.
