South Korea’s leading wireless carrier SK Telecom Co. said Monday it would be supplying big data and autonomous computing software and mixed reality instruments to hospitals under Korea University Medical Center.

Under the memorandum of understanding, SK will supply the infrastructure and software to turn the medical group into a “smart” hospital with customized services for individual patients.

SK Telecom will deploy voice-assistant storage and learning system, Internet of Things-based services for patients and virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) infrastructure to assist and share surgical performance.

The AI-enabled assistant will keep records on patient data by identifying the speech of a medical staff. It will dig into the pool of other data for prescription and treatment solutions from deep learning process and analysis.

IoT devices will help patients to save time in making appointments or payments.

SK Telecom’s virtual reality platform T-Real VR Platform will be used to recreate and share major surgical processes across three hospitals affiliated to Korea University Medical Center. The transition will be completed by November.
