Four active lawmakers of the ruling Democratic Party were recruited to join the cabinet under South Korea’s new President Moon Jae-in.

Rep. Kim Boo-kyum, heavyweight from Daegu - a traditional stronghold for conservatives - has been nominated as interior minister, while poet-turned-lawmaker Rep. Do Jong-hwan was tapped as the minister for culture, sports, and tourism.

Rep. Kim Hyun-mee was named to become the first female minister for the land, infrastructure and transport ministry.

Rep. Kim Young-choon was appointed as the minister for oceans and fisheries, presidential spokesman Park Soo-hyun Tuesday.

Four-term lawmaker Kim Boo-kyum who also ran for presidency withdrew and served as joint chief strategist in Moon’s election camp.

Do Jong-hwan who was tapped as culture minister Tuesday, is a two-term lawmaker and renowned poet best known for his 1986 book "You, My Hollyhock."

He served as chairman of the culture-arts policy committee in Moon’s election camp and his chief special adviser on cultural, arts and educational affairs.

Kim Hyun-mee who was named to lead the land, infrastructure and transport ministry served as a co-head of the broadcast content headquarters of Moon`s campaign for the May 9 snap presidential election.

Rep. Kim Young-choon, the nominee for the minister of oceans and fisheries, is a three-term lawmaker of the Democratic Party and heads the National Assembly’s Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee. The cabinet members require legislative confirmation.
