Samsung Electronics Co. is rumored to implement a dual-camera system in its next flagship smartphone Galaxy Note 8 to recover its reputation tarnished by Galaxy Note 7 with its battery explosion problem.
Industry sources on Friday said the electronics giant is preparing to adopt the dual-camera system in its upcoming Galaxy Note 8 that is to be released in second half of this year. The dual-camera technology allows users to adjust focus and have the background nicely blurred out when taking a picture with the smartphone. Also, it provides faster autofocus speed, giving a sharper image.
It would be the first time for the company to adopt the dual camera technology on its smartphone for upgraded picture-taking quality. It has achieved enhancement through a software upgrade and dual-pixel image sensor technology.
Meanwhile, its affiliate Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. is also expected to benefit from the smartphone maker’s adoption of the dual-camera system. It supplies camera modules for mobile devices.
