South Korea’s Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) said Thursday its consortium with two Korean firms secured a second landmark public deal in Saudi Arabia, having been awarded $5 million project on establishing electronic hospital information system (HIS) for Royal Commission Hospital in Jubail.

The consortium comprised of the SNUBH, wireless carrier SK Telecom Co. and medical IT services provider ezCaretech Co. will deliver a digital storage and data processing for patients’ record and administration to Royal Commission Hospital in Jubail, an industrial city in eastern Saudi Arabia by November.

Established in 1989, the 206-bed hospital provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to Royal Commission employees and their families as well as foreign expats in Jubail. It is under the wing of Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY). The commission was established as an autonomous organization for the Saudi Arabian government to plan, promote, develop and manage petrochemicals and energy intensive industrial cities such as Jubail.

The Korean consortium has won credibility from the Saudi state, having successfully deployed electronic hospital system for six large hospitals and 70 clinics under a project sponsored by the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs (MNG-HA) in Saudi Arabia in December last year.
