South Korea’s largest auto parts supplier Hyundai Mobis Co. said Friday it will nurture its technical center in India into a lab committed to research & development (R&D) for future car technologies such as self-driving, driver assistance system (DAS) and car entertainment.

Established in Hyderabad, capital of the state of Telangana in India, in 2007, Hyundai Mobis Technical Center in India (MTCI) has focused on software quality verification and development of software for auto parts ranging from smart cruise control (SCC), lane keeping assist system (LKAS) and semi parking assist system (SMPA) to MEB4 (Mobis electric brake 4). It played a crucial role in helping the company secure the ISO 26262 certification for software used to develop car parts.

Hyundai Mobis will bolster the Indian technical center’s software development prowess and ensure the center’s close cooperation with its Korean R&D center located in Mabuk-dong in Yongin City of Gyeonggi Province.
