South Korea’s largest carmaker Hyundai Motor Co. will unveil its stand-alone luxury brand Genesis’ first-ever sport utility vehicle (SUV) concept car at this year’s New York International Auto Show.

According to the auto industry Wednesday, new Genesis SUV concept car will make its world premier on the first day of the New York International Auto Show to be held between April 14 and 23. Hyundai Motor Vice Chairman Chung Euisun is expected to attend the auto show to closely monitor local reception of Genesis new SUV and other models.

The carmaker that launched its independent luxury car brand Genesis in 2015 to enhance its image was recently ordered by the local government to voluntarily recall 68,000 units of Genesis and Equus sedans that were manufactured in 2011 due to engine-related defects.

The new SUV concept car is a midsize SUV slated for mass production in 2019. The automaker’s premium Genesis brand’s lineup consists of flagship full-size sedans the G90 (also known as EQ900 at local market) and the G80, and would add a midsize sedan G70 this year. The concept car to be unveiled at the New York auto show marks the first SUV under the upmarket brand.

Hyundai Motor will also showcase its facelifted Sonata New Rise sedan at the auto show for the first time in the North American market. The new sedan, released at home market last month, has helped the Sonata brand regain ground in the country’s sedan market.

The Korean auto giant will also grace the U.S. motor show with its green IONIQ series including hybrid, electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid.
