Hanwha Techwin Co., a defense and aircraft engine parts unit of South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group, said Friday that it will be developing CCTV cameras powered by artificial intelligence (AI) together with Nvidia Corp., a US-based leader in computer graphics.
Nvidia, based in Santa Clara, California, has been one of the pioneers in AI-activated graphics processing units (GPUs) for computers, robots and autonomous vehicles.
Hanwha Techwin will develop CCTV based on Nvidia’s intelligent video analysis platform. The smart CCTV would be able to assist in traffic control and alert emergency situation on the road. In stores, it could study customers and prioritize their selections.
Hanwha aims to preemptively buttress AI-based security technology in the age of fourth industrial revolution, said Lee Man-sub, head of Hanwha Techwin Security Division.
The company took part in ISC WEST 2017 running from April 5 to 7 in Las Vegas to provide technical support for Nvidia’s intelligent video analysis platform.
