South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. has bagged a 300 billion won ($260 million) order to upgrade an existing power plant in Indonesia three months after it won a similar deal in the country, the company said Tuesday.

Its consortium with state-owned construction company PT. Hutama Karya won the procurement from state-run Indonesian PLN to convert the 1,150-megawatt (MW) gas-fueled Muara Tawar generator to a 1,800 MW combined cycle plant.

Out of the 470 billion won worth project, Doosan Heavy is in charge of fitting eight heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and three steam turbines of the power plant which is located 40 kilometers east of Jakarta.

Doosan Heavy has clinched a similar deal in December last year to upgrade the Grati gas-fired power plant in the country. With series of orders, Doosan Heavy has proven its competitiveness and technology that surpasses global competitors in Japan and Turkey, Kim Hun-tak, head of EPC BG in Doosan Heavy said. The company will further expand its presence in Indonesia by completing construction of total 35 gigawatt (GW) plants by 2019, he added.
