Registration is open as of March 9 for this year’s first Economy & Business Aptitude Test (eBAT) scheduled on May 20 in Korea, said Maekyung Media Group that administers the self-developed triannual test on the level of comprehension in economy and business management.

According to Maekyung Media Group, people interested in the test can now apply for it online at http://ebat.mk.co.kr. Application fee is 30,000 won ($25.97) for an adult and 20,000 won for teenagers - age of 18 and under. Early applicants from March 9 to April 16 will be given a 5,000 won discount. For those who register in a group of more than 20, another 5,000 won discount for each person is available.

The test will be given not only in Korean, but also in English, Chinese and Vietnamese. Maekyung plans to introduce the test in Spanish and Indonesian or others upon demand.

The test comprises two sections: Economy and business administration. Each part has 25 questions on basic economic principles, data comprehension, and knowledge on international current affairs.

Individual scores will be presented in a radar chart to show test takers what level they are at in comparison with others.

This year, the test would be available in Indonesia in addition to the U.S., China, and Vietnam. Maekyung Media Group aims to increase test sites to 10 countries.

Test takers with a score of 60 or above out of 100 will receive an eBAT certificate that can be offered to companies and universities. Maekyung is planning to apply for state certification for the test to strengthen its credential. The Korean major economic news media previously won national accreditations for its “Maekyung Test” and “Teen Maekyung Test,” which are recognized by many companies and organizations nationwide.
