Samsung Electronics Co. will unveil its new flagship tablet Galaxy Tab S series running on Microsoft’s Windows operating system on February 26 (local time in Spain), one day prior to opening of annual tech tradeshow 2017 Mobile World Congress, the company said Friday.

Unlike its previous tablets running on Android platform, the new Galaxy Tab S series tablets, which will be released under three categories, have multiple operating systems installed, allowing users to choose the tablet run on either Android or Windows operating system. Moreover, the tablet will come with a keyboard and a pen to offer a mobile device that functions like a laptop but more convenient to use.

The announcement of the electronics giant’s high-spec tablet comes roughly one and a half years later since it introduced Galaxy Tab S2 in 2015. According to electronics industry sources, the latest Galaxy Tab S series will be embedded with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, 12 megapixel-camera, and 4-gigabyte random access memory. It also is expected to be thinner than its predecessor Galaxy Tab S2, which is only 5.6 millimeters thick. The price will likely be set around 700,000 won ($608).

Separately, Samsung Electronics will not be releasing Galaxy S8 series, its next flagship smartphone following Galaxy Note7 that made a disgraceful exit due to fire-prone battery at the 2017 Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona, Spain but it will showcase the Galaxy S8 prototypes to client firms on one-on-one basis at a closed event. It is reported that the company will unveil Galaxy S8 to the public at the end of March.
