South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. that are the world’s fifth largest auto group by their combined sales beat their rivals in the commercial round during this year’s Super Bowl season.

Hyundai Motor`s 90-second Super Bowl commercial, which was produced by Innocean Worldwide America under the title of ‘Better Super Bowl,’ attracted more than 13 million views on YouTube. Filmed like a documentary, the commercial shows U.S troops at military base in Poland who are rejoined with their family members through a virtual reality system while they are watching the game.

According to the advertising industry on Monday, Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management also rated Kia Motors’ Super Bowl commercial “B,” which means very good advertisement, citing its effective way to promote the fuel efficiency of the company’s 2017 Niro crossover. The 60-second commercial stars actress Melissa McCarthy, who travels in the all-new Niro in a valiant-but-humorous effort to save the planet. Kia Motors’ eco-friendly commercial has been ranked the best among Super Bowl commercials in a USA Today survey, beating those of Honda and Audi.

Industry observers wait and see whether the latest commercial buzz would repeat the success of Kia Motors’ hip-hop hamsters in its vehicle ads that have become a huge hit in the U.S. and have helped improve the awareness of its brand along with sales.
