South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. said Sunday that it will introduce its third-generation (3G) super ultra high-definition (UHD) television using nano-cell technology in the local market to challenge its local rival Samsung Electronics in the horse race over next-generation ultra high-definition 4K TV.
The new TV features improvement in color accuracy and reproduction based on its exclusive nano cell technology through the use of nanometer-sized molecule structure, according to LG Electronics. Nano cells allow greater vividness and accuracy in color.
Unlike the existing 1G and 2G models, the 3G model uses the nano-cell technology directly on its panels. It offers consistent colors at wider viewing angles with virtually no color difference for audience at the front as well as for someone at a 60 degree angle, according to the company.
The brand-new SUPER UHD TV is available between 2.4 million won ($ 2,087.86) and 5.8 million won.
