Hancom Group, South Korea’s office software developer, will deploy robot guides for foreigners during the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
The Korean software developer signed a memorandum of understanding with Future Robot, a local robotics maker, to jointly develop robots that can speak in 29 languages based on its automatic interpretation solution “Genie Talk.”
GenieTalk developed by Hancom Interfree Inc. is the official translation and interpretation kit for the Pyeongchang Olympics. The mobile app can recognize voices, letters, and images via smartphones and translate them into 29 different languages.
The app speaks in the gender of the user and can be used in loud public places.
Future Robot specializes in developing sociable robots with face displays to make expressions when communicating.
