Danggeun’s Neighborhood Encyclopedia gains popularity

Danggeun, South Korea’s largest neighborhood marketplace and community app, said on Friday that its ‘Neighborhood Encyclopedia,’ introduced in August 2023, has been actively serving as a local guidebook for the past five months.

The new feature within Danggeun’s ‘Neighborhood Life’ section aggregates useful and informative posts contributed by local residents.

The company explained that posts selected via technological screening, including popular ones with numerous comments or information-rich comments that consistently gain views over an extended period in the app menu, undergo a review process by dedicated staff before being transferred to the Neighborhood Encyclopedia.

Accessible at the top of the Neighborhood Life tab, the Neighborhood Encyclopedia is categorized into sections such as dining, beauty, healthcare, parenting, and fitness.

“As we see a continuous influx of valuable information that is often hard to find on portals, social media, or even ChatGPT, Danggeun’s Neighborhood Encyclopedia has become a vibrant space for actively sharing high-quality local information,” an official from the platform said, adding that “neighbors are collaboratively creating and improving the neighborhood guides.”
