Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., South Korea’s largest shipbuilder that has set a target to obtain new orders worth more than $5.8 billion in 2017, bagged this year’s first order to build two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) for Norway-based tanker owner DHT Holdings.

According to industry sources on Tuesday, DHT announced on its website that it sealed a contract this month with Hyundai Heavy Industries to receive two 319,000-ton VLCCs by July and September of next year, respectively.

The company did not disclose financial terms, but given the current market price of about $83 million for a VLCC and based on the current foreign exchange rate, the contract is estimated to be valued at roughly 200 billion won ($171.5 million).

The two companies have long been close business partners to each other. Hyundai Heavy Industries have so far built 15 of 21 vessels that DHT currently owns. On January 16, Hyundai Heavy Industries delivered one VLCC to DHT.
