Samsung SDI to supply lithium-ion battery for E-Z-GO golf cars

이미지 확대The company said on January 26 that it established a strategic partnership with Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. (TSV), a specialized vehicle manufacturer and mother company of E-Z-GO, to offer its high-power lithium-ion batteries for new golf car models of E-Z-GO. Samsung SDI President Cho Nam-seong met with TSV’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Holleran to sign the contract and vow to strengthen cooperation on technology development.
“The deal for supplying our lithium-ion batteries for E-Z-GO golf cars is very significant as it is visible outcome in developing a new market of replacing lead acid batteries with lithium-ion batteries,” said Youn Jun-yeol, executive director for small battery marketing at Samsung SDI. “We will support our clients and lead the industry by providing lithium-ion battery solutions with lengthy lifespan and high power,” he added.
Samsung SDI’s Lithium-ion battery pack consists of hundreds of cylinder-type cells that offer high energy density and twice longer lifespan than traditional lead acid batteries. It also provides reliability as it is equipped with Battery Management System (BMS) that manages battery efficiency, lifespan, temperature and charging condition.
