Both Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. under Hyundai Motor Group will present themselves in next year’s CES as the Las Vegas consumer electronics show has turned into the central stage to showcase latest automobile innovations amid blurry line between electronics and vehicle technologies.
According to the auto industry Sunday, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors will set up showrooms side by side in the North Hall of Las Vegas Convention World Trade Center (LVCC) at CES next year.
Hyundai and Kia had taken turn in attendance to the annual show since 2009, and Hyundai was present in this year’s. The two will become joint regular from next year at the order of Chung Euisun, vice chair of Hyundai Motor Group, upon returning from this year’s show.
CES, originally a consumer electronics show, has turned into a contest among automakers and suppliers, taking up most of the space in the North Hall of LVCC over the last five to six years.
CES has become a headline-making stage for future cars and future car technology thanks to rapid convergence of cars and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Renault-Nissan Alliance chairman and chief executive Carlos Ghosn delivered a keynote speech and major automakers such as Hyundai Motor, FCA and Toyota unveiled their future concept cars there.
