South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. has gone all-out to restore its reputation in the smartphone market ahead of its release of new flagship G6 next month with the top chief executive personally spearheading the watch over from manufacturing to marketing procedure to ensure the phone gains approval from industry critics and consumers.

Jo Seong-jin, chief executive officer and vice chairman of LG Electronics, has been poring over smartphones, studying inside and out of over 100,000 phones, to compare each part and circuit of different phones, according to a company official.

He reads every posting on LG phones on social media and meets with mobile device division executives weekly to discuss all the procedures from design to marketing.

The wireless phone division incurred operating loss of 1.3 trillion won ($1.1 billion) for full-year 2016, and some even began speculating LG’s phase-out from the market.

The company instead simplified the product lineup to enhance competitiveness in cost and profitability.

The next flagship G6 reportedly will feature Google’s voice personal assistant service and multiple safety protection.
