Lotte Mart outlets across Korea will all be equipped with electric vehicle (EV) charger by the end of the year, said the grocery chain under Lotte Group.

According to Lotte Mart Tuesday, the retailer signed an agreement with the Ministry of Environment at Lotte World Tower skyscraper in southeastern Seoul to install and expand chargers for electric vehicles.

Under the agreement, it will build EV chargers at all of its outlets across the country by the end of the year.

Currently, it has 24 electric-car chargers including 21 super chargers and 3 regular chargers at 22 outlets across the country. It plans to install an additional 120 super chargers that can fully charge vehicles in 30 minutes.

The decision to expand charging stations is to target the potential customers who will use EVs, a staffer at Lotte Mart said.

Lotte Group has been working with the government to expand EV infrastructure. The Group`s car rental arm, Lotte Rental and the Environment Ministry struck a pact to promote the use of eco-friendly vehicles. The 123-story Lotte World Tower, which opened in December, is equipped with 118 EV chargers.
