LG Electronics Inc. struggling with weakening presence in the global and domestic smartphone market will be unveiling the next premium flagship, G6, at the 2017 Mobile World Congress next month in Barcelona, Spain.
The company posted a 40-second teaser video on social networking sites Facebook and YouTube suggesting new features of G6 with a caption "February 2017" at the end.
In the teaser, seven New Yorkers talk about what they desire in phones such as bigger screen, compactness in spite of multi-tasking, durability, and water-proof protection to suggest primary feature of the new phone. It did not specifically name the device coming in February to be G6, but LG has been unveiling new premium phone in the MWC event.
LG Electronics earlier revealed that it would mount a 5.7-inch display on the G6 with 18:9 aspect ratio, and do away with modularity, suggesting the phone to be in tune with latest glossy and thin trends.
LG is hoping to recoup reputation and profit in high-end phone market as it has been losing money in mobile business for more than a year. In the fourth quarter alone, it incurred 500 billion ($425 million) in operating loss in mobile phone business.
