South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. plans to add intelligence to all its home appliances and strengthen robotics this year.

The electronics giant aims to lead the smart home market by embedding Internet of Things (IoT) technology in its home appliances and expand robot business by producing robots performing housework as well as commercial services, according to Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics’ Home Appliance & Air Solution (H&A) division, at the CES 2017 press conference in Las Vegas on Friday.

The company plans to enable Wi-Fi access in all of its home gadgets to be launched this year and release products embedded with its own deep learning computing system dubbed Deep ThinQ.

Its Wi-Fi enabled gadgets collect data on user’s behavior and pattern to maximize working efficiency. For instance, its smart washing machine can change functions and conditions by analyzing user’s pattern and laundry load. The company’s smart refrigerator can maintain the best temperature to keep food fresh based on user’s behavior.

As part of efforts to bolster its robot business, the company unveiled its household chores performing Hub Robot at CES 2017. Its airport guide robot and airport cleaning will be deployed at the Incheon International Airport later this year.
