Samsung Elec to provide Exynos processors to Audi from 2018

Samsung Electronics will supply its Exynos application processors (AP) to German automaker Audi, marking the first time for the Korean tech behemoth to provide its system semiconductors to a finished carmaker.

According to sources from the electronics industry on January 6, the world’s largest chipmaker will offer its Exynos processors to Audi starting 2018, though the details have not yet been decided. Samsung Electronics has reportedly been optimizing its Exynos processors to meet the demand made by the German carmaker.

AP is the core part in mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs that works like computer’s central processing unit (CPU). In an automobile, the chip will work like the human brain that commanding core functions like self-driving and infotainment.
