Samsung Electronics Co. will continue to use batteries produced by its battery-making sister company Samsung SDI Co., the main battery supplier for its fire-prone Galaxy Note 7, for the upcoming Galaxy A 2017 and Galaxy S8 on its tentative conclusion that Samsung SDI’s batteries were not the cause of its Note 7’s explosion.

According to sources from the electronics industry on Tuesday, the world’s largest smartphone maker has used Samsung SDI’s batteries for its Galaxy A 2017 that is scheduled to be released in Russia next month after failing to find other battery supplier that can meet its quality and quantity standard.

“The Galaxy A 2017 to be launched in the Russian market next month has featured Samsung SDI’s high-capacity battery,” said an official from Samsung Electronics. “Samsung SDI will be the main battery supplier for our upcoming smartphones,” he added.

The company plans to announce its final finding from a three-month-long investigation into the cause of overheating and combustion in its Galaxy Note 7 later this month. It has concluded that the battery defect is not sole cause of the explosion of its ill-fated flagship, according to sources.
