Samsung Elec retrieves 90% of Galaxy Note7 from home customers

South Korea’s top manufacturer Samsung Electronics has retrieved over 90 percent of 950,000 Galaxy Note7 phones sold in Korea with the world’s top smartphone maker readying to cease all after-sales services to the discontinued phone from the beginning of the year.

It will activate software to further restrict charging capacity from current 60 percent to ensure that every phone is returned. The recall and refund policy will be extended by another month till the end of next month although without former mobile coupon benefit and physical after-sales services.

Phone returns from home customers had been slower than overseas where the tech giant, with the help of lower wireless carriers, has already disabled Galaxy Note7 through cutoff in mobile network service or limit in charging.
