Passengers who have been habitual mid-air offenders will be banned from flying with Korean Air Lines Co. for lifetime or face Taser arrest.

South Korea’s largest flag carrier on Tuesday said it will react more firmly and actively against in-flight violence that threatens the overall safety of the flight. As part of efforts, it will revise its safety manual and regulations to allow more active use of a Taser, or a stun gun, when deemed necessary, it said during a press briefing at a crew training center in Seoul.

The air carrier’s decision comes a week after its passengers and crew were attacked by the in-flight drunken rampage by a Korean male passenger seated in prestige class. The man, a 34-year-old named Lim Bum-jun who was revealed to be the son of Korean beauty product manufacturer Doojung chairman, drunkenly attacked passengers and crew members on a Korean Air flight from Hanoi to Seoul. Korean Air announced that it permanently banned Lim. This is the first time the airline has issued a lifetime ban on anyone.

Passengers who are found to be habitual offenders or went on an in-flight drunken rampage will face flying bans and will be blacklisted, Korean Air President Ji Chang-hoon said, adding that the company will review to increase the male to female ratio of its flight.

Incheon International Airport Police requested an arrest warrant for Lim for violating the Aviation Safety and Security Act and violence charges.
