South Korea’s SK Group appointed chief executive officer of SK Holdings Co. Cho Dae-sik as chairman of its highest decision-making body Supex Council in its year-end regular executive reshuffle conducted on Wednesday, recognizing his contributions to nurturing new growth engines such as new drug development, pharmaceuticals and semiconductor materials businesses, according to the group.

The former Supex Council chairman Kim Chang-geun, energy and chemical committee chief Chung Chul-khil and communication committee chief Kim Young-tae, who are all in their 60s, were replaced by younger successors in their 50s.

SK Energy President Kim Joon was named president of SK Innovation, and SK Holdings C&C President Park Jung-ho was appointed as president of SK Telecom.

The group named Jang Dong-hyun, former SK Telecom president, sole chief executive officer of SK Holdings, a merged entity of SK Holdings and SK C&C that had been operated with two leaders of each unit.

Both SK Hynix CEO Park Sung-wook who is credited with enhancing the competitiveness of semiconductor technology and improving the company’s performance and SK Engineering & Construction (SK E&C) CEO Cho Ki-haeng who made contributions to improving corporate fundamentals and making profits were promoted as vice chairmen of the group.

Park Sang-kyu, in charge of managing Walkerhill Hotel of SK Networks, was promoted to CEO of SK Networks, and Hwang Eui-gyun, head of SK E&C’s industry service department was named CEO of SK Shipping. The group appointed the head of its global business division Lee Jae-hoon as SK Gas CEO, director of Supex Council Ji Dong-sup as SK Lubricants CEO, and Seo sung-won as SK Planet CEO. The newly-appointed SK Innovation CEO Kim Joon will double as SK Energy CEO.

SK Group’s Chief Vice Chairmen Chey Jae-won will maintain his position. SK Innovation’s executive vice president Lee Hang-soo was appointed as the head of the group’s public relations team and executive vice president Lim Su-gil was nominated as the head of public relations team of SK Innovation.
