South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. said Wednesday it will unveil new smart home appliances that can deliver an unparalleled level of performance and convenience into the home with deep learning technology at the CES 2017 held in Las Vegas next month.

The company is set to dominate the global smart home market by introducing its home appliances including smart air conditioners, robot vacuum cleaners and refrigerators powered by deep learning technology. The global smart home market is expected to grow to $122 billion in 2022, according to market experts.

LG’s deep learning-based smart electronic devices to be released at the CES will gather data using sensors, accumulate it on cloud networks through Wi-Fi and analyze it to better understand consumers. Based on the collected data, the devices provide users with new solutions to everyday problems.

The company’s newest robot vacuum cleaner using deep learning technology can recognize objects around the room and react accordingly. It waits for three seconds otherwise it avoids the obstructing person to continue cleaning.

LG’s deep learning refrigerator can automatically learn from users` patterns and environment. For example, during the night time, the refrigerator is automatically set at a power-saving mode. In addition, it initiates the 4-stage sterilization system when it senses temperature and humidity conditions that may contribute to food spoilage.

LG’s smart air conditioner understands which part of the house is most occupied throughout the day and provides the most comfortable temperature quickly and efficiently. The company claims that its new smart washing machine understands washing conditions depending on regions. For example, in areas where the water contains excess calcium carbonate, the washing machine adjusts the temperature and amount of water used to counter the effects of hard water on clothes.

LG Electronics is scheduled to launch its smart home appliances from next year.

The company announced a plan to enter the smart home market by introducing home appliance accessories including SmartThinQ sensors and hubs in June. The SmartThinQ sensor approximately 4 cm in diameter can be attached to any home appliance, turning it into a smart device.

At 12:32 p.m., shares of LG Electronics rose 2.59 percent or 1,250 won ($1.04) to 49,450 won in Seoul trading Thursday.
