Audi Volkswagen Korea under scrutiny for emissions-cheating and fabrication of documents in South Korea will launch `We Care Campaign` for Korean consumers who have suffered inconvenience in its so-called dieselgate scandal, the German automaker said Thursday.

Starting February 20th, 2017, Korean owners of defective vehicles will be offered special benefits including repair and maintenance services and discount on vehicle accessories.

The company said the campaign would cost about 270 billion won ($ 225 million), which is over eight times Audi Volkswagen Korea’s net income last year, 32.2 billion won. The details of the campaign have yet to be disclosed. About 270,000 vehicles registered until the end of this month in Korea are eligible to the service benefit program, which is equivalent to one million won a customer.

This campaign is part of the company’s efforts to regain trust from customers following sales ban and registration cancellation of Audi and Volkswagen vehicles for fabricated emissions test results in Korea in July. Early this month, it was also slapped with nearly 37.3 billion won fine for false advertising on vehicle emissions from the Korea’s antitrust agency Fair Trade Commission (FTC).
