WaHome buys HouseCare, Japan’s No.1 home cleaning service for Airbnb hosts

WaHome announced on Tuesday that it acquired a 100 percent stake in HouseCare, but did not disclose the value of the deal.
HouseCare provides home cleaning and maintenance services and specializes in supplying home management services for Airbnb hosts in Japan. Backed by growing demand for Airbnb rentals in Japan, it has rapidly grown, posting 200 million yen ($1.73 million) in cumulative sales in two years since its inception in 2014. Japan is the second largest Airbnb market in the world and HouseCare maintains unrivaled market share in Airbnb host service, WaHome explained.
Founded in April 2015, WaHome has launched an app connecting cleaners to clients. Starting in Gangnam, affluent area in southern Seoul, the startup has expanded its service into other areas in the country from last year. Home cleaning transactions through the WaHome app reaches 300 million won ($256,103) a month, according to the company.
With this acquisition, WaHome seeks to become a global home management company that also specializes in house caring service for Airbnb hosts across the world, WaHome co-founder Lee Woong-hee and Han Sang-in vowed.
