Unionized workers at the Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) decided to return to work after reaching an agreement with the management on Wednesday, ending a lengthy strike in public railway system that first began on September 27.

The union protested to the employment of the merit-based wage system in the public sector. The latest agreement does not include the thorny issue even after talks of over 20 rounds.

The unsettled issue leaves room for another dispute as workers have already filed for court injunction to prevent the new pay system from taking effect from January next year. The management plans to go ahead with the plan as it has been an administrative order on the public sector.
