AI-controlled car technologies to dominate CES 2017, Maeil Newspaper to deliver on-site news

Visitors of Consumer Electronics Show 2016 are trying Samsung Electronics’ virtual reality headset Gear VR.

Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s biggest consumer technology trade show, should be more like a motor show next year as all major finished car makers and auto parts suppliers are planning to show off their latest future car technologies at the show that will run from January 5 to 8 in 2017 in Las Vegas.

According to the event organizer U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA) on Tuesday, the exhibition’s main theme next year will be artificial intelligence (AI). Various AI technologies, much advanced from last year, are expected to be presented along with autonomous cars and related technologies by global finished carmakers such as Ford, GM, Nissan, Toyota, Honda and Hyundai Motor, as well as automotive parts companies including Bosch and Mobileye.

Nissan Motor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn will deliver a key note speech on January 5 to introduce Nissan’s self-driving technologies. Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of Nvidia who invented graphics processing units (GPU), will give a key note address at the event’s preshow on January 4.

The CES 2017 will be attended by more than 170,000 people from 150 countries around the world, and 33,000 companies will showcase their latest products and technologies covered by 7,500 media, according to the event organizer.

Meanwhile, Maeil Business Newspaper signed a memorandum of understanding with the CTA to rapidly deliver the up-to-date trend and news in the information technology industry presented at the show next year. Maeil Business Newspaper is the first Korean media to attend the show as a partner company.
