South Korea’s KB Insurance Co. has tapped into nursing business to meet the growing demands for health care and nursing service in Korea, one of the fastest aging societies in the world.

KB Insurance that is the first among Korean insurers to enter nursing business has invested 20 billion won ($17.1 million) to establish a subsidiary KB Golden Life Care, according to sources from the insurance industry on Monday. It decided to launch nursing business in order to meet various demands of customers in a rapidly aging Korean society, KB Insurance said. The company aims to further develop nursing service in Korea by providing tailored health care service by specialists and building urban health care facility and reliable medical cooperation system. Its pilot service including opening elderly nursing facility will begin in a near future.

Non-policy services for the senior population by insurers were limited to medical check-up arrangement and legal or medical consultation. But due to meet the growing demand, the industry has been advised to come up with comprehensive healthcare services for their senior clients.
