South Korea’s leading outdoor apparel and gear maker Black Yak Corp. has joined hands with the nation’s textile giant Hyosung Corp. to expand its market share at home and abroad by employing the latter’s high-performance fibers to its clothes.

According to Black Yak Wednesday, the two firms have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the sportswear maker will use Hyosung’s odor-neutralizing materials in producing its T-shirts and underwear starting 2017. Hyosung developed highly functional nylon and polyester (PET) yarn product “Freshgear” and spandex material “creora® Fresh” that are known to be effective in eliminating smell of sweat or foot odor created by daily lives or sports activities for the first time in Korea. They are mainly used in making underwear, sportswear and stockings, which directly contact human body.

Black Yak and Hyosung will work together to develop highly functional fabric that will be applied to Black Yak’s clothes. They expect each other’s global sales network and competitive edges to help them expand their presence in the global textile and outdoor fashion market.
