LG Elec promotes H&A division president Jo to CEO and vice chairman

Jo, who has made a significant contribution to enhancing brand recognition of the company by making a big hit of its premium home appliance line-up LG Signature and upscale built-in brand Signature Kitchen Suite, made the group’s first vice president without a college degree.
The Korean electronics giant also promoted Song Dae-hyun, head of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Region and president of LG Russia, to president and CEO of its H&A division, replacing Jo. In addition to Jo and Song, the company gave promotions to total 58 executives with five named as executive vice presidents, 13 as senior vice presidents and 38 as vice presidents at a board meeting held on Thursday.
The company said it gave much more promotions of 58 compared to 38 last year to fill the management with younger people and to make the corporate culture more flexible.
The company has created new Kitchen Appliance division by combining refrigerator and kitchen package departments under H&A division. Its division responsible for washing machines and vacuum cleaners has been renamed as Living Appliance division.
In order for a comprehensive management of LG Signature line-up, the company also created LG Signature Committee which will be led by Jo.
As of 14:54 on Thursday, shares of LG Electronics Inc. rose 2.12 percent to 45,850 in Seoul trading.
