Hancom Inc., a South Korean software developer, has signed two separate contracts to provide its office software to Russia and India, a move that is expected to pave way for the home-grown office software to expand its presence in global markets.

Hancom said Tuesday it signed supply contracts with ASBIS, Russia’s largest IT product distributor, and Rediff, India’s leading enterprise email service provider. ASBIS supplies IT products not only in Russia, but also Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Under the contract with ASBIS, Hancom will begin to supply Thinkfree Office NEO, its office software for PCs, to ASBIS in December. Hancom said it plans to supply its products to business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) customers in Russia by 2019.

Rediff has 100 million users and it has been selected by chief information officers of major IT companies in India as the country’s top enterprise email service company over the past three years. Hancom will provide its document solution Web Office and Mobile Office along with Rediff email and cloud services for the next two years.

The Korea’s leading office software developer has been targeting countries and territories where demand for alternatives to Microsoft products is high. Late last year, it also inked a deal to supply the global version of its office software package to Fibercorp International Inc., Latin America’s largest corporate Internet service provider.
