KT partners with Hanwha Techwin to tap into security business

South Korea’s leading telecommunications company KT Corp. joins hands with Hanwha Techwin Co., the nation’s biggest video surveillance system provider, to make a foray into the security business.

KT said on Tuesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hanwha Techwin to collaborate on the development of security solutions. Under the deal, the two companies will develop surveillance systems using imaging devices including CCTVs and video security platforms enhanced with images, the Internet of things (IoT) and big data information. They will also work together to explore mid- and long-term business models with an aim to tap into the global surveillance market.

KT and Hanwha Techwin plan to develop the next-generation’s wireless imaging device combined with wireless power equipment and 5G-based real-time image transmission infrastructure.

Yoon Kyung-lim, head of KT’s future convergence business office said the collaboration between KT with the world’s best network infrastructure, cloud technology and capability to analyze big data information and Hanwha Techwin, the world`s leading video security device provider, is expected to create significant synergy.
