Taihan Electric Wire Co., a South Korean leading provider of industrial cables, won an order worth 111.7 million worth Singapore dollars ($79 million) to build underground high-voltage power network for a utility firm of Singapore in charge of transmitting and distributing electricity across the country.

What would be its biggest single order in the last five years, the company received a final letter of award (LOA) to build 400kV ultra-high voltage cable network for SP Power Assets, it said on Thursday.

Taihan Electric Wire has landed 114 million won orders from North America for the October-December period after it won a $64 billion won order from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to replace aged 138 kilovolt ultra-high voltage underground cables.

The South Korean electric company plans to supply 400kV ultra-high voltage underground cables and mating connectors and carry out the project on turnkey basis in responsible from the design to facility testing.

Taihan Electric Wire will be the first company to build 400kV XLPE transmission network for an underground power grid.
