The working and business hours across Korea will be pushed back by an hour on Thursday in annual ritual to ensure college aspirants arrive at their testing sites on time and can take the once-a-year standardized college entrance test in best possible conditions.

The stock exchanges -the main KOSPI, secondary Kosdaq, and KODEX market - would trade from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Among commodities, only gold will be traded an hour later than usual between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Korea`s over-the-counter financial market, known as K-OTC, will run from 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.. Final bond quotes will be issued at 5:00 p.m.,. Market-to-Market Valuation will be announced an hour later than usual at 7:00 p.m.

Business hours at banks and public organizations will also be pushed by an hour to 10:00 a.m. Public employees are advised to report to work an hour later. Public transportation would be increased.

Flight takeoffs and landing are banned for 35 minutes from 1:05 p.m. during English listening test at areas near airport. Incoming flights must stay in the air until it gets clearance from the control tower. Fliers are advised to check their flights as the curfew will affect schedule of 89 flights.

This year’s college entrance exam will take place from 8:40 a.m. to 5:40 p.m at 1,183 test sites across the nation. A total of 605,988 have signed up for the test, 25,199 fewer than a year ago.
