Seoul’s Gallery Su: will present an exhibition of work by three Chinese artists Jian Ce, Qin Jun and Xie Fan, titled “Unflattening-3 Chinese Emerging Artists”. The show will run for a month, from Nov. 16 to Dec. 17.

Unflattening, a word created by Nick Sousanis, a comics artist and educator, and a professor of Humanities & Liberal Studies at San Francisco State University, is a concept describing a new approach beyond one-dimensional thoughts and behavior that that obstruct the infinite potential as a human being.

The three artists participating in this exhibition were all born after the 1980s. Unlike the artists from the early China avant-garde generation, when the artists were spotlighted in international arena for their cynical expression on socialistic ideology and political issues, the young artists are actively participating in international stage by their own way of speculation system.

Gallery Su: was established by Kim Su-hyun who has planned and curated the exhibitions of Chinese artists in Beijing from the early 2000s. Kim served as Chief Specialist at Seoul Auction and as Beijing Director of Arario Gallery.
